The ministry was established on November 15, 2019 as a result of the transformation of the Ministry of Energy. The Office is the competence equivalent of the Ministry of the Treasury, which was liquidated in 2017, and partially the Ministry of Energy, whose tasks were taken over by the Ministry of Climate after the re-establishment of the Ministry of Environment.
The tasks of the ministry include:
- energy policy and the management of mineral resources
- ensuring access to energy for citizens and legal entities
- conducting energy policy
- shaping the energy policy in the European Union and presenting Poland’s position on the international forum
ensuring independence and energy security diversification of energy supply sources
- initiating and supporting the development of innovative technologies
- informing citizens about all aspects of the development and functioning of the energy area
